January, 2016 (East Rochester, NY) – equaTEK is humbled to have been nominated by a former client for consideration of The ETHIE Award.
The ETHIE Award is modeled on the American Business Ethics Award (ABEA), which was founded in 1994 by the National Society of Financial Services Professionals. Several of Rochester’s ETHIE Award recipients have gone on to participate in, and win national recognition.
The ETHIE Award recognizes businesses and organizations for “doing the right thing.” The crystal statuette that is awarded to the recipients represents the roots of ethics, strong ethical foundations, high standards of business conduct, and the nature of ethics in our daily lives.
equaTEK has been nominated in the Small Business category with less than 50 employees. To be considered a finalist for this award, equaTEK must complete a rigorous application process including a set of essay questions that will demonstrate how the organization upholds a right standard of conduct.
equaTEK founders, David B. Madison and Edward A. Hanchett started this company with a strong belief that nothing should ever compromise their commitment to integrity – not profit, competitiveness, or even direct orders from a superior. All new hires at the company are required to adopt the company’s Statement of Integrity prior to beginning their employment. Employees are encouraged to speak up when they notice behaviors or actions that may not fit within that statement.
equaTEK is built upon the belief that the integrity of the company is demonstrated through each individual who represents it. In a world which continues to change at warp speed, people often lose sight of priorities. Despite these changes, integrity remains a core value with Madison and Hanchett.
“Just the nomination itself is humbling for us,” said Ed Hanchett. “Every day, we feel good about the work we do, and how we treat our clients and employees. It’s great to know we are doing what’s right,” Hanchett continued. “It’s an honor to be recognized by another respected professional in the community.”
equaTEK will begin the application process in February, with a deadline for submission May 15, 2016. Finalists for the ETHIE Award are notified in mid August, and the awards ceremony is held in September 2016.
